The Evoultion
in the
calculation
machines

The first real
tool for making
calculations
dates back to
2000 B.C.
it was the Abacus.....
At the beginning of the
epochal change there is
the valvle, a small device,
which was invented for the
radio, and that was able to
speed up calculations
in an incredible way.
The first generation
of computers is based
on three basic functions
which, till now, are
the basis for a data
elaboration process.
The advantage in
the use of a binary
system consists in
the required distinction
of only two
conditions: 0 and 1.
Around 1955,
the memory
is made by
using millions
of ferrite
nucleus.
By using transistors,
the computer becomes
faster and cheaper,
and spreads over
the world with
thousands of units.
In 1957, after years
of work, a team of IBM
specialists, set up
a symbolic language,
the FORTRAN or
"formula translator".
The third generation
of Computers
started with smaller
machines, much faster
and reliable, thanks to
the integrated circuits.
In the seventies,
a computer with
integrated circuits was
capable of making 2
millions of multiplications
in a second.
The biggest effort
in the research on
microprocessor
has been made by
Bell Telephone
of Boston.
